A Learning Retreat – Where is Byrongerry?

What? Where? Accommodation Your Hosts

Byrongerry is at 259 Repentance Creek Road, Goonengerry, NSW. It is a 12 acre property in the hills 15 km as the crow flies due west of Byron Bay. It consists of four acres of rolling park-like grounds shaded by pecan and macadamia orchards, and 8 acres of natural bush and rainforest sloping down to a creek.   You can fly into either Ballina/Byron or Coolangatta/Gold Coast Airports where we will meet you and bring you to Byrongerry. If you drive, Byrongerry is either 10 hours north of Sydney or two and a half hours south of Brisbane.

Driving south: Follow the Pacific Highway and turn left at the Byron Bay turnoff. Enter the first roundabout and take the 4th exit.  Then take the first exit at the second roundabout onto the Hinterland Way.  Drive up the St Helena hill (taking care at the speed camera on the way up the hill) and turn right at the top onto Coolamon Scenic Drive.

Driving north: Follow the Pacific Highway towards Bangalow.  Look out for the sign telling you to turn left at the Bangalow Exit in 2 kms.  Take this exit (to Bangalow and Byron Bay) and enter the roundabout.  Take the third exit to the Hinterland Way to Tweed Heads (and Byron Bay).  Drive 6.9 kms (look out for the sign to the Crystal Castle in 300 metres), and turn left onto Coolamon Scenic Drive at the top of the hill, where you can see Byron Bay for the first time.

Driving south or north: stay on this road for 12km to the T-junction just out of Federal. (Coolamon Scenic Drive veers where there is a sign to the Crystal Castle – do not turn there.)

Turn right at this T-junction into Federal.   In Federal turn right at the tennis court, pass the Federal store on the left and drive up the hill towards Goonengerry for 3.8km.

Turn left into Repentance Creek Road (there is a converted church on the corner) and drive 1.5 km down Repentance Creek Road to the Byrangary Creek bridge. Cross the bridge and the Byrongerry driveway is the second one on the right 500 metres from the bridge.  It has carved signs and the number 259 on the letterbox. (Our driveway doubles back so look out for the next driveway – signed Kookaburra – then look back and you’ll see the Byrongerry signs.)
