First, a little bit of history: given my late partner Des Ryan and I formed AnD Consulting in 1994 and wrote our first newsletter early that year, the Value Adding newsletter is now in its 30th year! In Learning Moments in this edition, we first challenge the need for having to make a business case for diversity in organisations; then we look at self-compassion as a healthy attitude to oneself. And to close we quote Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations about gender equality.

In Learning Moments you can read how leaders can provide this support by honing their leadership coaching and mentoring skills. The Did you know?section could well be renamed ‘Kate’s brag corner’ because it describes a support group for women that she has hosted for over 30 years. And we close with a quote by Nelson Mandela.

In Did You Know? Kate reminds her readers about AnD’s core coaching services and lists some ways to regain the art of reflecting. She then shares an article about the need for leaders to adopt a coaching style of leadership. Our Good Read is Julia Gillard’s recent release about women leaders, and our AnD Story concerns work/family integration, rather than balance.
